About our Lynwood insulation contractor crew

A worker in protective gear sprays closed-cell foam onto a wooden attic floor joist.

How I came to insulate lived-in homes

I spent my first years in the trade insulating new houses, where every wall and ceiling is wide open and easy to reach. In 2023 I started Lynwood Spray Foam Insulation to work in homes people already live in. Here that usually means tight attics, old wiring and whatever the last crew left behind, so every job starts with a look at what's already up there.

Most of our calls come from homeowners in Lynwood and the cities around it, along with some landlords and property managers. They're dealing with a hot upstairs, a drafty room over the garage or cold floors above a crawl space. I come out myself to look at the job and write the estimate, and our small crew does the work with me on site running it. You can see everything we do from our home page.

How we handle your attic and crawl space

These are the things you'll notice when our crew works in your house, from the first visit to the cleanup. Most of it comes down to doing the work in the right order.

  • Old problems get sorted out first

Leaks, old wiring, gas appliances and soaked or dirty old insulation get dealt with before anything new goes in, because covering up a problem just hides it for the next person. If something like vermiculite or a gas appliance needs attention first, I'll tell you plainly and say who should handle it.

  • A written estimate from the person running the job

I look at the space with you and put what we'd do, and in what order, in writing. The price mostly turns on what's up there now, whether old material has to come out, and how much air sealing your house needs, which is closing the gaps around lights, pipes and the hatch before we insulate.

  • Foam only where it earns its cost

Foam costs more, and it seals air while it insulates. In most attics, sealing the gaps and topping up with blown-in insulation, loose fill we blow through a hose, does the job for less unless your ductwork runs up there.

Licensing, insurance and permits for your job

  • California contractor license

In California, anyone who contracts for work on a project that needs a building permit, uses employee labor, or takes on work worth $1,000 or more in combined labor and materials has to hold a license from the state contractor board. We're fully licensed and insured.

  • Permits and inspections

In Lynwood, building permits come from the city's Building and Safety Division, which also inspects work to check it meets the codes. When your job needs a permit, we pull it with the local building office and set up the inspections, whether that office belongs to the city or the county.
